SOLDIER

 

Built by N. A. Dadd & Son 1888, the locomotive is belived to be the work of young Ernie Dadd, Norman having retired from the buisness in 1885.
Ernie much less of an artictic flair than his father, and the resultant SOLDIER is an extordinaly uncomplicated machine. A simple “marine” boiler mounted on a box well-tank frame with an outside elementary Marshall valve gear. It has an overall roof with large wndows at either end and and a good driving position on the footplate.
